The Gotham Bowl had a short and colorful history. The first game was played in 1961 at the Polo Grounds in New York City, and saw Baylor defeat Utah State 24-9. The following year featured a matchup between Nebraska and Miami, Fla. at famed Yankee Stadium on December 15, 1962. However, only 6,166 people showed up to watch the game, played in freezing rain and without a national TV audience. Nebraska hung on for a wild 36-34 victory in what was to be the final Gotham Bowl. Poor weather and attendance both years doomed New York City’s only bowl game. Retro U. has designed a vintage-style t-shirt based on the 1962 Gotham Bowl program to commemorate the final contest.
This vintage shirt is made with ringspun jersey fabric, 100% cotton, garment washed, no shrinkage. Women's cut. Shirt color: Banana
